AevoTactics Aevo TacticsAevo Tactics is a turned based RPG/Strategy game. The idea came to me in the late 90s (~1998-2000) from combining the ideas of a system like Magic the Gathering with Risk. Being that I'm not that skilled of a programmer, the eventually goal will be a sort of chess based grid system for the mapping with dynamic map generation. Mana, like in Magic, will be generated depending on the terrain. However, there will be a weather system that also generates mana. This means that, for example, if one square has a sunny day, it will add more fire, but eventually it might add more water if it's rainy. The weather map will be an overlay. Perhaps a "forecaster" spell could be utilized to give a general foresight of possible evolution of the weather system to help plan ahead. I really like the idea that Dwarf Fortess did when they implemented biomes (not just a basic map with random parameters, but like how a river would seed a certain type of ecology versus a desert, and a mountain would add a type of weather system different from plains, etc...) but I feel that kind of programming maybe be beyond my ability... I also have a vision of astrology and lunar/solar cycles involved with character generation and affect on the gameplay. Mana as a resource is also dynamic. That is, when your summoned creature dies, the mana it contains/was created from is deposited into the square where it died. Different skill sets such as archaeology and folklore will help you learn new spells/technologies. |
