Ascendaemon

Ascendaemon

The end of days draws nigh. The great battle will soon be here. All the forces of heaven and all the forces of hell shall emerge from their distant corners onto the great plain of Armeggedon. Alas, the prophecy is already written, and you, my dear demon, are doomed to an eternal fate of fire.

Unless...

It has been said that those who escape from the clutches of hell before that fateful hour shall escape the horrors of the battle. They will not be among the damned. God has forsaken you. There is one, and only one who you can rely on for redemption. And that is yourself. The depths of hell are dark, deep and lonely. And the struggle to reach the exit is difficult. There is only one way out. Tempt as many souls as you can to damnation. Build a tower of forlorn corpses to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Beware, for as you climb, so do others, and they are not kind to you. Many clamoring hands will beset upon you. But do not give up.

Many have fallen, few shall rise. Are you one of the few?

Contained in this box you will find:
1 octagonal board
1 soul bag
3 decks of cards (Demon Deck, Sin Deck, Special Deck)
50 soul pawns
128 stones/counter pieces

Demon Deck: 8 cards, each unique demon, 7 representing one of the deadly sins:

    * Lucifer: pride
    * Mammon: greed
    * Asmodeus: lust
    * Leviathan: envy
    * Beelzebub: gluttony
    * Amon: wrath
    * Belphegor: sloth

Plus Satan, a "wild card"... Whoever picks Satan gets to choose their associated sin.

Sin Deck: 112(?) cards of sins. Each card represents at least one sin, sometimes they can be a dual-class sin, allowing the card to be played as one of two sins. The sin cards each have a value. Sins have values of 1,2 or 3, each representing how powerful they are.

Special Deck: This deck contains cards that either add to a players ability to capture souls, harm an opponents chances at gaining a soul, or affect global gameplay.

Soul Pawns: These represent souls to be captured. Each pawn captured is added to pile/tower of souls out of hell, building a bridge from the players corner to the center of the board(Hell's Gate). Each pawn has a "weakness", a sin that tempts it on a downward path... Instead of a pawn - use tiles (which can add personality to them, as well - unique art for each character).

The pawns have two numbers on them: x/y -- x is the minimum number of weakness-aligned cards required to tempt the soul. The Weakness values are 2, 3 or 4. y is the total willpower of the soul, and indicates the total number of sins that need to be played on the soul to capture it. A souls willpower value is either 4, 5, or 6.

Example: The pawn, "Joe", has a weakness of lust. He's 2/5. This means a demon needs to play lust cards with at least a total value of 2 on Joe before he can attempt to further capture his soul. After those two lust cards are played, he can use any other combination of sins to capture the soul.

ICONS

Lust - mudtrack flap sillhouette
Gluttony - Pizza, cake or some other "bad" food
Greed - Dollar sign
Sloth - Z's
Wrath - fist - a dynamic icon, like lightning flashes or something from it
Envy - evil eye
Pride - mirror

Special Powers for each demon?

What if each demon had a set of powers that they could fuel by the captured souls. Maybe they could then "spend" the souls they capture to fuel an extra attack on someone. Or maybe... Hmm. Maybe the "ladders" are a grid of like 3 tiles wide and like 6 high. Then each row of 3 tiles would need to be like a certain type of combo in order to build. Maybe 3 of the same type of sin. Or 3 of one of each kind.

Maybe it could be like a mini poker for scoring. Hmm... A score track, not so much the first to build a literal ladder.
